Laboratory testing can provide insight into your pets health conditions and help to identify illnesses and assess symptoms that cannot be seen by the naked eye and might otherwise be missed. 

There is only so much we can tell from the physical examination of your pet and discussions about any symptoms they may have. We offer both in-house and external laboratory testing to help narrow down the cause of any problems and find the appropriate treatment for certain disease processes. Even when your pet appears to be well, laboratory testing can pick up on certain changes before they start to cause any clinical signs.

The types of laboratory testing that we offer includes:

• Blood testing

• Urine testing

• Faecal testing

• Skin testing

• Allergy testing

• Cytology

• Histology

• Bacterial culture and sensitivity

• Viral testing

All these tests are extremely important, and they each have their place in our diagnostic toolkit. Some are useful for screening for problems, whereas others are essential for forming a diagnosis. A lot of these tests can be performed conscious, however, some of them do require a sedation or general anaesthetic to perform a more in depth and accurate sampling method.
